Technical Writers’ Companion

The title page is the “face” of your document.

Don’t underestimate the importance of the title page design. You never get a second chance to make a first impression. If the title page gives readers the impression that your document is well-designed and professionally made, readers are likely to trust the document and will read it attentively.

While you don’t necessarily need the help of a graphic artist for the design of the inner pages of a manual, consulting a media designer for the title page can be a good idea.

The title page is the key element to identify and recognize a document. It must enable readers to decide whether the document contains the information that they need.
